The CompTIA Security+ is a solid entry-level information security certification, ideal for job candidates who are just beginning their career as information security professionals. The Security+ certification focuses on six (6) key competencies:

Here’s what you need to know about the exam process:
- Number of questions – maximum of 90
- Time limit – 90 minutes (1.5 hours)
- Passing score – 750 or higher (on a scale of 100-900)
- Prerequisites – none (although CompTIA Network+ certification and two years of technical networking experience are recommended)
- Cost – $330 USD
- Certification must be renewed every three (3) years
